Jack-up operations are a critical part of electric forklift repair work, as improper execution can lead to equipment damage, personal injury or even fatal accidents. Before starting any jack-up work, it’s essential to make thorough preparations. Choose a flat, stable and level ground surface to prevent tipping; avoid soft ground or areas with debris. Next, park the electric forklift on the designated spot, engage the parking brake, turn off the power and remove the key. Lower the forks to the ground and ensure no personnel are in the immediate vicinity of the equipment.
Identify the official jack-up points on the electric forklift, which are designed to bear the vehicle’s weight. Never jack up the forklift at unauthorized points, as this can cause structural damage. Slowly position the jack under the designated point, ensuring it’s aligned properly. Begin jacking the forklift up gradually, checking regularly to make sure the jack remains stable and correctly positioned. Once the forklift reaches the required height for repair work, use sturdy support stands to prop it up securely. Do not rely solely on the jack to hold the forklift in place during maintenance, as jacks can fail unexpectedly.
Before starting any repair tasks, double-check that the support stands are firmly placed and the forklift is stable. Gently shake the vehicle to confirm it doesn’t move. Ensure all tools and parts needed for the repair are within easy reach to avoid unnecessary movement around the lifted forklift. Throughout the repair process, keep the work area clear of clutter and ensure only authorized personnel are present.
Once the repair work is completed, remove all tools and parts from the work area. Carefully lower the forklift back to the ground by first ensuring the jack is properly supporting the vehicle, then removing the support stands one by one, followed by gradually releasing the jack. After the forklift is on the ground, inspect the equipment to ensure it’s in normal working condition before restarting it.
